Another win for Trump! The longer President Trump is in office, the more support he gets from minorities who have never voted for Republicans, let alone a GOP president. That may also include Black Entertainment Television founder and billionaire Robert Johnson.
In an interview this week, the former BET executive made it clear he’s not about to jump off the Trump Train this year and will be sticking with the current president over the ‘unknown’ Joe Biden in terms of economic positions and other governing policies that would be extremely damaging to business and Americans in general.
“Where I come out as a businessman, I will take the devil I know over the devil I don’t know any time of the week,” he said in an interview Wednesday with CNBC.
“I absolutely do not know what a President Biden would do,” he continued. “I haven’t heard anything coherent about what he said he’d do.”
He did go on to acknowledge that historically, blacks vote for Democrats about 90 percent of the time — which makes no sense because Democrats are the party of slavery, of Secession, of the KKK, of Jim Crow laws, and of segregation.
“But if we don’t get clear and concise direction on the benefit of changing courses at this time — again, I am speaking as a business person — I would rather know who I am going to deal with in the White House,” he said.
“I want to know what regulatory decisions they’re going to make. What fiscal policy decisions. What monetary policy decisions they’re going to make than be taking a chance,” said Johnson.
From his perspective, voting for President Trump is a no-brainer.
After eight years of the first black president, Barack Obama, and Biden, they could not achieve anywhere near the level of employment, wage growth, and availability of opportunities that the Trump administration has achieved.
CNBC noted further: Johnson has been a big Democratic donor over the years but also has spoken positively about Trump’s economic policy. In 2016, he said he declined a position in Trump’s Cabinet, saying it was not due to politics but because he could not deal with government red tape.
From a business standpoint only, not from a racial injustice standpoint, Johnson reiterated that it’s better for corporate executives to know what they’re getting in a president rather trying to guess.
“I would rather know who I’m going to deal with in the White House. I’m going to know what regulatory decisions they’re going to make. What fiscal policy decisions, what monetary policies they’re going to make than to be taking a chance, particularly when you have the turbulence of a pandemic,” said Johnson, who in the past has been complimentary of Trump’s business-friendly policies.
As for Biden, anyone who’s been paying attention this election cycle and is being honest knows he won’t be the one governing. His policies will be guided by the radical leftist base that backed his rival, Sen. Bernie Sanders – and those economic policies will be straight-up socialism.
“Recently I asked the company to allow me to leave FOX News and begin a new chapter. After requesting that I stay, they graciously obliged. The opportunities afforded this guy from small town Mississippi have been many,” Smith said in a statement, and good riddance!
“It’s been an honor and a privilege to report the news each day to our loyal audience in context and with perspective, without fear or favor. I’ve worked with the most talented, dedicated and focused professionals I know and I’m proud to have anchored their work each day—I will deeply miss them.”
Smith was among Fox’s first hires upon launching in 1996 and he became the network’s signature daytime newsman, often acting as the anchor to enter other broadcasts to helm coverage of breaking news like the 2015 Paris attacks and the 2014 riots in Ferguson, Missouri.
“Even in our currently polarized nation, it’s my hope that the facts will win the day,” Smith said as he signed off his final broadcast. “That the truth will always matter, that journalism and journalists will thrive.”
In a statement, Jay Wallace, president and executive editor of Fox News Media, said, “Shep is one of the premier newscasters of his generation and his extraordinary body of work is among the finest journalism in the industry.” He added, “While this day is especially difficult as his former producer, we respect his decision and are deeply grateful for his immense contributions to the entire network.”
Throughout the Trump era, Smith took on a “rogue” role at the network as Fox News became overtly pro-Trump in its commentary and news coverage. In many instances, as documented by The Daily Beast, Smith even fact-checked the right-wing conspiratorial musings of his own colleagues, resulting in not-so-subtle sparring with Fox stars like Sean Hannity.
As a result, Smith has prompted backlash from the president and many of the network’s viewers, who overwhelmingly tune in to the channel’s overtly conservative programs.
Trump has repeatedly whined about the anchor on Twitter, claiming he changes the channel when Smith’s show—which broadcasts in the middle of the workday—comes on the air. “Watching Fake News CNN is better than watching Shepard Smith, the lowest rated show on @FoxNews,” the president wrote earlier this year.
Earlier this month, Smith publicly clashed with Tucker Carlson, criticizing the Fox News primetime host for failing to defend their colleague Judge Andrew Napolitano when he was called a “fool” by a guest on Carlson’s show. Vanity Fair’s Gabe Sherman reported several days later that Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott and network president Jay Wallace allegedly conveyed to Smith that if he did not stop attacking Carlson, he would be off the network.
In addition to his role as the network’s consummate newsman and fact-checker, Smith cultivated a reputation for delivering unfiltered, decidedly un-Fox-like on-air banter. “We are America! We do not fucking torture!” he once shouted during a 2009 digital show.

The House of Representatives opened up an official impeachment inquiry into Trump on Sept. 24, a move that the former secretary of state has come out in support of. Clinton said last month that Trump is an “illegitimate president.”
She added that she refuses to accept another four years with Trump in office as president.
“I don’t accept that or believe that [re-election] will happen,” Clinton said during an interview with “CBS Sunday Morning” Sept. 29. “I believe there were many funny things that happed in my election that will not happen again, and I’m hoping that both the public and the press understand the way that Trump plays this game.”

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened his rally in Houston by praising President Donald Trump.
“Friends, as I told you, we have met a few times and every time he has been the same: warm, friendly, accessible, energetic and full of wit,” Modi said.
Modi also commended Trump’s administration for celebrating Diwali at the White House, and talked about the relationship between the United States and India.

Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee are looking to formally define what Chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., has referred to as impeachment proceedings against President Trump. Democrats on the committee are planning on voting on how the investigation is defined, through a resolution that would set the boundaries of the probe, Politico reported.
“The Michael Cohen hearing didn’t work out the way they wanted. The John Dean hearing didn’t work out the way they wanted and of course, the Bob Mueller hearing and that investigation didn’t work out the way they wanted,” Jordan said earlier in the interview.
“But that doesn’t stop them. They’re going to continue to push this ridiculous impeachment narrative,” he added. “When they’re focused on this warrantless impeachment inquiry, you’re not getting done the things we need to be doing, like fixing the border situation — dealing with… the intellectual property theft of China.
