Michael Nesmith of The Monkees has passed away.......... RIP

Robert Michael Nesmith was an American musician, songwriter, actor, producer, and novelist has passed away. He was best known as a member of the pop rock band the Monkees and co-star of the TV series which was originally a spoof on the whole pop music craze of the Beetles, and others in that era. The tv show became so popular that they started to put out music, and it took top of the charts in which lead the band to start touring as they got more popular as a band they broke away from the writers of the songs from the show and began to write for themselves.

The talent as both musicians, and comedian actors were easy to see if you were a watcher or listener. Michael a true musician at heart had taken issue with the label given to the group as being just a tv made up band. He along with his band mates spent decades proving they were a real band. He had left the group for many years, and only after Davey Jones passed did he return to touring with the 2 other remaining members of the band.

I was born in 1977 past the shows air time, and missed it by a decade or so but grew up in the 80s watching re runs and became a major fan of the show and the music. I own cds, and all the shows on tape and have them on streaming.

The show was great, and hilarious but the music is timeless and really they had a great sound. I will miss this man beyond words as I was a big fan since a child. This is a very sad day for us fans. Rest in Peace Robert Michael Nesmith.
